Definite Article-(The)

निश्चित लेख ‘The‘ का उपयोग किया जाता है(The definite article ‘The‘ is used) :-
1. जब हम किसी विशेष व्यक्ति या चीज के बारे में बात करते हैं या पहले से ही उल्लेख किया गया है। जैसे,(When we talk about a particular person or thing or one already mentioned. eg,)
  1. Give me the book which you bought yesterday.
  2. The dress you want is out of stock.
  3. I met a girl. The girl was beautiful.
2. जब एक विलक्षण संज्ञा पूरे वर्ग का प्रतिनिधित्व करती है। जैसे,(When a singular noun represents a whole class. eg,)
  1. The lotus is beautiful flower.
  2. The cat loves comfort.
  3. The banyan is a useful tree.
3. ‘संज्ञा + पूर्वसर्ग + संज्ञा‘ निर्माण में पहली संज्ञा से पहले। जैसे,(Before the first noun in ‘noun + preposition + noun‘ construction. eg,)
  1. The Bharat of Ramayana is an ideal brother.
  2. The gold of India is famous.
  3. She likes the sweets of Jaipur.
4. पर्वत-श्रेणियों के नाम से पहले। जैसे,(Before names of mountain-ranges. eg,)
  1. The Alps
  2. The Himalayas
  3. The Vindhyas
  4. [‘The’ का उपयोग एकल पर्वतों या शिखर के नामों से पहले नहीं किया जाता है। जैसे, माउंट एबू, माउंट एवरेस्ट।(‘The’ is not used before names of single mountains or peak. eg, Mount Abu, Mount Everest.)]
5. द्वीप समूह के नामों से पहले। जैसे,(Before names of groups of Islands. eg,)

  2. The Hebrides
  3. The West Indies
  4. [एकल द्वीपों के नामों से पहले ‘द’ का उपयोग नहीं किया जाता है। जैसे,(‘The’ is not used before names of single islands. eg,)]
6. नदियों, महासागरों, खाड़ी, रेगिस्तान और जंगलों के नाम से पहले। जैसे,(Before names of rivers, oceans, gulfs , deserts and forests. eg,)
  - The Ganges, The Amazon, The Nile, The Arabian sea, The Pacific Ocean, The Indian Ocean.
7. धार्मिक और पौराणिक पुस्तकों के नाम से पहले। जैसे,(Before names of religious and mythological books. eg,)
  - The Veda, The Ramayana, The Bible.
8. समाचार पत्रों और पत्रिकाओं के नाम से पहले। जैसे,(Before names of newspapers and magazines. eg,)
  - The Hindustan Times, The Hindu, The Times Of India.
9. स्वर्गीय निकायों, दिशाओं और चीजों के नाम से पहले उनकी तरह का अनोखा। जैसे,(Before names of heavenly bodies, directions and things unique of their kind. eg,)
  - The earth, The Sun, The Moon, The East, The north, The Equator.
  - [‘स्वर्ग ’, नर्क, ईश्वर, संसद’ शब्दों के पहले ‘The ’ का प्रयोग नहीं किया जाता है।(‘The’ is not used before the words ‘heaven, Hell, God, Parliament’.)]
10. ऐतिहासिक इमारतों, स्थानों और घटनाओं के नाम से पहले। जैसे,(Before names of historical buildings, places and events. eg,)
  - The Taj mahal, The Red Fort, The Pyramids, The Kaba, The Kurukshetra, The French Revolution.
11. संगीत वाद्ययंत्र से पहले। जैसे,(Before musical instruments. eg,)
  1. She is fond of playing on the piano.
  2. He can play the guitar.
  3. [जब संगीत वाद्ययंत्रों को गणनीय संज्ञा के रूप में उपयोग किया जाता है, तो ‘A/An’ का उपयोग किया जाता है। जैसे,(When musical instruments are used as countable nouns, ‘A/An‘ is used. eg,)
    - We gave her a harmonium.
    - I have bought a violin.
12. धार्मिक समुदायों और राजनीतिक दलों से पहले। जैसे,(Before religious communities and political parties. eg, )
  - The Hindus, The Muslims, The Sikhs, The BJP, The Congress Party, The Janata dal.
13. जहाजों, हवाई जहाज और ट्रेनों के नाम से पहले। जैसे,(Before names of ships, Airplanes and trains. eg,)
  - The Virat, The Vikrant, The Meghdoot, The Shatabdi Express, The Punjab Mail.
14. भौतिक पदों को निरूपित करने वाले शब्दों से पहले। जैसे,(Before the words denoting physical positions. eg,)
  - The top, The bottom, The center, The inside, The front, The back.
15. शरीर के अंगों से पहले। जैसे,(Before parts of body. eg,)
  1. He was hit on the head.
  2. She pulled the cat by the tail.
  3. You caught me by the arm.
16. सरकारी विभागों और सशस्त्र बलों के नाम से पहले। जैसे,(Before names of Government departments and armed forces. eg,)
  - The Judiciary. The Legislative, The Executive, The Army, The Navy, The Air Force.
17. महीनों की तारीखों से पहले। जैसे,(Before the dates of months. eg,)
  - The 6th February, The 21st of December.
18. सुपरलेटिव डिग्री से पहले। जैसे,(Before the superlative degree. eg,)
  1. Honesty is the best policy.
  2. She is the tallest girl in the class.
  3. The rose is the sweetest of all flowers.
19. कुछ देशों और प्रांतों के नाम से पहले। जैसे,(Before the names of a few countries and provinces. eg,)
  - The USA, The USSR, The Netherlands, The Sudan, The Punjab.
20. पसंद के मामले में तुलनात्मक डिग्री से पहले। जैसे,(Before comparative degree in case of a choice. eg,)
  1. She is the prettier of the two sisters.
  2. He is the strongest of the two.
21. अध्यादेशों से पहले। जैसे,(Before the ordinals. eg,)
  - The first, The third, The ninth.
  - रोमन नंबरों के साथ न तो ‘The‘ और न ही ‘st/nd/th‘ का उपयोग किया जाता है।(Neither ‘The‘ nor ‘st/nd/th‘ is used with Roman numbers.)
